Tragedy struck on Friday in Kaduna State when bandits suspected to be terrorists invaded a mosque, resulting in the death of two worshippers.

The incident took place in the Kwasakwasa Community’s Anguwar Makera, located in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The attack, which occurred around 2 pm, was confirmed by local residents. Hudu Kwasakwasa, a respected community leader, corroborated the account, stating that the attackers fired indiscriminately at the congregation.

The two deceased victims were part of a group of Muslims at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera who were targeted by the bandits. In addition to the fatalities, several others were abducted. The victims have since been laid to rest at the Old Kuyello cemetery.

The worshippers were in the middle of their second raka’at of salat when the ambush occurred, causing the remaining congregation to scatter in fear.

Kwasakwasa also revealed that the same group of criminals had kidnapped about nine people from a settlement called Angwar Kanawa in the Kwasakwasa area just days earlier.

He called on the authorities for help, highlighting the fact that these attacks were happening unopposed. This latest incident comes less than 24 hours after the same bandits reportedly kidnapped over 287 students in the nearby Chikun Local Government Area.

Despite the severity of the situation, no official statements have been issued by either the State Government or the State Police Command.
