President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has called for an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza and voiced strong support for a two-state solution to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, during a summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
Speaking at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, Tinubu condemned continued hostilities and expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for an end to the suffering endured by civilians.
Addressing Heads of State and leaders from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States, Tinubu underscored Nigeria’s commitment to peace in the Middle East. He warned that the decades-long conflict had caused “immeasurable suffering” and urged immediate international intervention to end Israeli aggression in Gaza and support Palestinian rights.
A statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, quoted Tinubu as saying, “As representatives of nations that value justice, dignity, and the sanctity of human life, we have a moral obligation to collectively bring about an immediate end to this conflict.”
In his call for a two-state solution, Tinubu emphasized the importance of creating a pathway for both Israelis and Palestinians to coexist in peace and security. His remarks come at a critical time in international efforts to stabilize the region, with heightened calls for a ceasefire and a sustainable resolution that respects the rights of all affected populations.
