President Bola Tinubu has announced a groundbreaking initiative for the year 2024, revealing plans to implement a new national living wage for hardworking citizens.

In a New Year message delivered in Lagos, Tinubu emphasized that this decision is not only economically sound but also a morally and politically correct step to ensure the well-being of the poor and vulnerable.

Tinubu pledged a commitment to making every Nigerian feel the impact of their government, promising to accelerate service delivery across various sectors. Prioritizing stable electricity supply as a cornerstone for sustainable development, he highlighted ongoing projects aimed at strengthening transmission lines and optimizing the integrity of the national grid.

In a move to boost food supply and petroleum production, Tinubu outlined initiatives to cultivate 500,000 hectares of farmland nationwide. He expressed optimism about restarting local refining of petroleum products, with the Port Harcourt Refinery and the Dangote Refinery set to play pivotal roles in achieving this goal.

The president also underscored the importance of fiscal and tax policy reforms, ensuring a conducive business environment that attracts both local and foreign investments. Tinubu affirmed his commitment to removing obstacles hindering business competitiveness, reinforcing Nigeria as a preferred destination for investments.

Highlighting his administration’s priorities, Tinubu outlined eight key areas, including national defence, job creation, macro-economic stability, investment environment optimization, human capital development, poverty reduction, and social security. As he presented the 2024 budget to the National Assembly, Tinubu emphasized the serious commitment to achieving governance objectives and fostering sustainable development in the coming year.
