President Bola Tinubu has given the nod to the appointment of new Executive Directors for the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

This announcement, made by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale in a statement on Thursday, January 4, 2024, marks a pivotal moment for the country’s marine and blue economy.

Under the leadership of the former Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, who heads the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the newly appointed Executive Directors are poised to steer these crucial agencies toward greater efficiency and effectiveness.

For the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the appointees are as follows:

(A) Ms. Vivian C. Richard Edet — Executive Director, Finance & Administration (NPA) (B) Engr. Olalekan Badmus — Executive Director, Marine & Operations (NPA) (C) Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar — Executive Director, Engineering & Technical Services (NPA)

Similarly, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) welcomes the following appointments:

(D) Mr. Jibril Abba — Executive Director, Maritime Labour & Cabotage Services (NIMASA) (E) Mr. Chudi Offodile — Executive Director, Finance & Administration (NIMASA) (F) Engr. Fatai Taye Adeyemi — Executive Director, Operations (NIMASA)

Presidential spokesman Ngelale conveyed that President Tinubu approved these appointments with unwavering confidence in the appointees’ impressive profiles. It is believed that they will diligently execute their collective mandate, fostering conditions that will significantly elevate the Marine & Blue Economy sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP.

Ngelale emphasized that these new appointees are expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the Nigerian economy into a labor-intensive and inclusive one, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
