President Bola Tinubu has appointed Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the substantive Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the President.

The appointment will take effect on August 14, 2025, following the scheduled retirement of the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who will step down on August 11 upon turning 60.

DCG Adeyemi brings decades of experience and expertise to the helm, having transitioned from the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service to the FFS, rising through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service Headquarters. He has successfully completed all mandatory in-service training programs and command courses, including specialized professional development both within Nigeria and internationally.

According to the CDCFIB, Adeyemi is affiliated with numerous professional institutions, highlighting his technical and administrative proficiency. He is a member and fellow of several bodies, including:

  • Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
  • Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria
  • Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria
  • Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria

The Board also expressed deep appreciation to the retiring CG, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, recognizing his contributions to the growth and modernization of the Federal Fire Service. During his tenure, Olola was credited with introducing numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening fire safety infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and promoting capacity building within the Service.

As the FFS prepares for this leadership transition, stakeholders anticipate continuity, innovation, and expanded service delivery under Adeyemi’s guidance.
