President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Beijing, China, to begin his official visit to the country.
He landed in the Chinese capital in the early hours of Sunday after departing from Abuja on Thursday for a series of high-level engagements.
Presidential Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale had earlier announced that President Tinubu would make a brief stop in the United Arab Emirates before continuing to China. During a press conference at the Presidential Villa, Ngelale stated that the President’s visit would include a series of meetings and activities designed to yield both immediate and future benefits for the Nigerian economy and its citizens.
President Tinubu is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, where multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are expected to be signed. These agreements will focus on deepening bilateral cooperation in areas such as the green economy, agriculture, satellite technology, media development, blue economic development, and national planning.
“This visit is part of a broader engagement where both leaders will discuss mutual interests, not only in economic matters but also in national, regional, and international security issues,” Ngelale explained.
President Tinubu will also participate in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, where several African heads of state will gather to discuss key matters with Chinese leaders. As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu is expected to deliver remarks on behalf of the region and speak at the high-level peace and security plenary on peace and security issues in Africa.
