Sy Marcus Herve Traore, identified as @marcus_herve, a suspected army general from Burkina Faso, has made damning accusations against President Bola Tinubu and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), alleging their involvement in the deaths of innocent citizens from Niger Republic.
Herve Traore, who shared video of Ibrahim Traoré, the military ruler of Burkina Faso, addressing thousands of citizen vigil committees. Known as @CapitaineIb226, delivered a firm message, stating, “They taught us a lesson, but they will also learn.”
He highlights the strength of Niger’s military, emphasizing its history of combat and resilience. They assert that the Nigérien army is not merely for show or peacekeeping but is battle-hardened. Additionally, he mentions the unity among armies of the AES, awaiting the intervention of the standby force from ECOWAS.
The statement condemns the loss of thousands of Nigerien lives due to insufficient electricity and medicine in hospitals. It labels this situation as criminal and holds Tinubu and ECOWAS imposing sanctions accountable for the deaths.
Traore criticized ECOWAS for its ineffective response to the suffering of the people, accusing them of neglecting international laws and violating agreements. He pointed out the adverse effects of sanctions, particularly on Mali and Niger, citing the manipulation of energy supply as a method to incite unrest. The passage said the closure of seaports to landlocked countries, which violates international laws. Despite this, there has been no response from the international community or ECOWAS.
The general condemned the actions of African leaders, likening them to “useless and incompetent politicians” for their failure to prioritize the welfare of their citizens. He specifically called out @AOuattara_PRCI for cutting off electricity to Mali in 2022, resulting in higher costs for Ivorian citizens.
Drawing a comparison to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Traore criticized the lack of concern shown by African leaders for their people’s well-being. He held ECOWAS and its affiliates responsible for the sanctions and the consequent loss of lives in Niger.
Despite the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin did not cut their energy supply. In contrast, African leaders, deemed incompetent by some, neglected the welfare of their citizens. Captain attributed responsibility for the sanctions and the resulting deaths in Niger to ECOWAS and its manipulators, directly addressing @officialABAT, implying their accountability for the tragic outcome.
In a direct message to @officialABAT, Traore concluded, “Their blood is on your hands.”
The accusations made by Traore underscore the growing discontent and frustration among African nations towards their leadership and regional bodies like ECOWAS.
