Peter Obi the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has blasted President Bola Tinubu after the president used his campaign launch in Kaduna to blame the opposition for poverty instead of telling Nigerians where the borrowed billions went. Obi said Tinubu created the hardship and does not have the energy to solve Nigerian problems so he must go home.

Tinubu flagged off his reelection campaign in Kaduna State on Saturday. He told the supporters that he came to seek reelection not to talk of hunger and poverty created by his opponents and promised prosperity if given another term.

Obi answered at the NDC national campaign council inauguration in Abuja on Monday. He said the president should have explained what he did with all the billions borrowed and what he achieved with the 2023 2024 and 2025 budgets rather than pointing fingers at others.

He accused the government of lacking the capacity competence compassion and energy required to govern Nigeria. He said Nigeria cannot be governed by Tinubu’s energy and needs a president who will be available and present at any location that has a problem. He pointed to the case of 600 people kidnapped and taken into the bush and said his team would go into that bush with them instead of staying away.

Obi also stated that Tinubu has spent over 266 days outside Nigeria in three years and has never slept in Bayelsa, Anambra or Enugu. He said the president has made history by producing the highest number of poor people according to recent reports with more than 140 million Nigerians or over 60 percent of the population living in multidimensional poverty and about 16 million more pushed into extreme poverty this year.

The NDC candidate is running with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Senator Seriake Dickson chairs the national campaign council with Obi as co chairman. The party unveiled its national secretariat in Jabi Abuja and presented certificates of return to candidates during the same event. Obi said his team will focus on solving the problems rather than blaming others.
