President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a national address on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 7:00 am, in response to the ongoing nationwide protests against economic hardships and poor governance.

The address will be broadcast on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), with repeat broadcasts at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm the same day.

This announcement comes in the wake of recent nationwide protests against economic hardships, organized under the hashtag #EndBadGovernance.

In a statement from Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, it was confirmed that the broadcast will be available through the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

The address will also be repeated at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the same day, ensuring widespread access to the President’s message.

NN News Media recalls that Prominent religious leaders, such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’adu Abubakar III, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, had previously called on President Tinubu to address citizens before the protests deteriorated further.

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have criticized President Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as “woeful” for his failure to address the nation earlier. The PDP expressed concerns over the President’s silence, stating that it sends a “dangerous signal” and heightens public apprehension.

In his upcoming address, President Tinubu is expected to address the concerns of the protesters, who are demanding good governance, economic reforms, and an end to corruption. The PDP has called on the President to take immediate steps to reduce the price of petroleum products, stabilize the Naira, and ensure food security
