Law Mefor, Forensic and Social Psychologist has described the declaration by former Lagos State governor and National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to run for the presidency in 2023 as a huge embarrassment.

Tinubu had after a meeting yesterday with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja revealed that he had informed the retired general of his intention to contest for the number one position in the country.

Mefor argued that there is no way the aging and sick former Senator will shoulder the burden that comes with Nigeria’s presidency within six months without caving in or outsourcing like the incumbent president, Buhari.

He further noted that the outsourcing of Nigeria presidency has brought calamity, destroyed the unity of the country, her economy and also unleashed hardship on Nigerians.

Mefor however questioned if Nigerians desire to replicate and elongate this suffering by allowing Bola Tinubu to succeed president Buhari.

The statement read, “Tinubu’s presidential ambition is both a huge joke and a huge embarrassment, given his age and very poor health. Buhari, despite being saddled with rigors of office, appears even stronger than Tinubu as at today. The fact is: there is no way Tinubu can carry the weight of Nigeria’s Presidency for six months without caving in or outsourcing it like Buhari has done.

“Outsourcing Nigeria Presidency has rather brought calamity upon the nation, given the fact that those really running the show are not the people elected by Nigerians. Without our mandate and unafraid of its renewal during reelection, they can afford to be callous and unfeeling.

“They have destroyed the unity of the country, her economy and have unleashed unprecedented hardships on Nigerians. Is this what Nigerian citizens want to replicate and elongate by allowing Tinubu to succeed Buhari? Nigerians should please bear this in mind: those who elect incompetent leaders are not victims of their foretold misrule; they are accomplices and have no moral right to complain when the consequences of their vote kick in.”
