ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola blasted President Bola Tinubu, declaring that “Tinubu’s renewed hope is a scam and will continue chanting renewed hope to eternity.”

Four years ago, this government promised Nigerians “renewed hope.” Today, three years into its four-year term, the same slogan continues to echo across speeches and official messaging, with little clarity on when that hope will materialize in tangible terms. The question many Nigerians are now asking is straightforward: when exactly will this promised transformation come into fruition?

For a growing number of citizens, the answer feels increasingly obvious. The phrase “renewed hope” has shifted from a policy vision into a political refrain repeated often, but lacking measurable outcomes that reflect meaningful change in people’s daily lives. Economic hardship persists, inflation remains a burden, and many households continue to struggle with basic costs of living. Against this backdrop, the continued emphasis on rhetoric over results has led critics to describe the promise as misleading at best, and deceptive at worst.

This disconnect between promise and reality is what fuels the argument that the “renewed hope” agenda has become a political scam an idea sustained more by repetition than by delivery. When slogans outlast substance, public trust begins to erode. Citizens start to question whether leadership is focused on governance or simply on maintaining narratives that secure continued political support.

He also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress and Tinubu of pushing through an electoral law that removes all punishment for forgery and false statements in election documents. This change effectively turns serious crimes into something the ruling party can get away with.

He stressed that the ADC stands firm because Nigeria is worth every real sacrifice needed to rescue it. The country must never accept any form of military style rule disguised as democracy.

The current government brags that small improvements in exchange rates prove they control the economy well, but Aregbesola dismissed this as outright false. When the administration took over in twenty-twenty three the naira traded at about seven hundred to one dollar in open markets. Today it sits at one thousand four hundred naira. That complete one hundred percent loss in value has wrecked an economy that relies so much on imported goods.

Fuel costs have exploded beyond what ordinary families can handle. Before this government a liter sold for between one hundred eighty-five and two hundred thirty-eight naira across different areas. Now the price hovers around one thousand four hundred naira and continues climbing. Transport expenses have become so steep that many workers simply cannot afford to reach their jobs anymore.

This same administration once warned Nigerians that if they failed to deliver constant power, they should not get another chance at leadership. Yet the power situation has grown much worse. Some regions receive just two hours of electricity on average each day while other places endure complete darkness lasting weeks or entire months.

A truthful president who broke such a big promise so completely would resign immediately and refuse to run again. Instead, the nation watches the most frantic bid in Nigerian history by any leader to cling to power no matter the damage even if it means destroying the whole democratic setup.

Four years back the government sold Nigerians a dream of renewed hope. Now three years deep into the term or counting up to ten years overall the same empty promise keeps repeated with zero delivery. The real question is when will this hope finally show up. The honest answer is it never will because the whole thing is nothing but a massive scam. If people allow it this regime will keep delaying that hope forever.

Every citizen now carries the responsibility to prevent these scammers from staying in power by backing the ADC.

In education the count of children locked out of school has jumped from eighteen point three million to nearly twenty million. Far more kids are being driven by government neglect and family poverty straight into deep hardship and crime. A staggering one hundred thirty million Nigerians now suffer multidimensional poverty. The gathering raised a loud call for everyone to declare shame on this failure again and again.

Security across the land has hit the lowest point ever as banditry and terrorism spread unchecked. What hurts even more is the total absence of empathy from a presidency that seems lost at the helm.

Following the massacres in twenty twenty five the president made a trip billed as one of condolence but he never stepped foot in the affected communities. He remained safely inside the Benue State Government House before flying back to Abuja.

Then in twenty twenty six after killings in Rukuba he avoided visiting the area even though the drive from the city took only forty minutes. Instead victims and families were brought to him. He reportedly said he had to rush off because the airport would soon lose power. Once more the audience was called to shout shame on the entire handling of the crisis.

Aregbesola who now serves as the national secretary of the ADC spoke these words to party leaders and delegates as they gathered for the elective convention.

Aregbesola who serves as the national secretary of the ADC spoke these words directly to party delegates and leaders gathered for the convention as they prepare to rescue the nation from continued failure.
