There was pandemonium on Christmas day in the Ajah area of Lagos,  as a trigger happy policeman attached to the Police Station in area, shot and killed a female lawyer who was identified as Bolanle Raheem.

The incident threw the community into confusion as the policeman, who was with his colleague , fled the scene.

He was, however, caught and detained by the police.

Witnesses said that the incident happened on Sunday Christmas day around 11 am when a policeman attached to the Ajah Police Station gave a car a chase and released a shot that killed a female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.

It was learnt that Raheem, her sister, and four children had just left an eatery nearby, where they had gone to have a nice time in the spirit of the season and were returning home in their car around 11 am when the cop tried to stop them.

Apparently not aware that the cop was stopping her, she continued and was making a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge when the policeman fired a shot at the car.

The bullet was said to have hit the victim; she was rushed to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that the officer has been taken into custody.

He said: “The officer involved in the shooting is an ASP; he has been arrested, detained, and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigations.” (The Sun)
