The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will have no electricity on election day, Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The blackout will affect areas including Mpape, Bwari, Jere, Jiwa, parts of Jahi, Karimo, Idu, and Suleja. TCN explained that the outage is due to maintenance work at its Katampe transmission station. The work will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

TCN said the maintenance is part of efforts to improve power supply and ensure equipment works properly. The company apologized for the inconvenience and asked residents and business owners to prepare for the outage.

Authorities have also imposed a curfew across the FCT on election day, raising concerns about movement restrictions during voting.

Residents in affected areas are advised to make plans to avoid disruptions to daily activities.
