President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has addressed growing criticism surrounding the President’s recent travels.

After spending nine days in London, Tinubu has moved to France for undisclosed engagements, sparking varied reactions from the public.

On Friday, former Governor Masari shared on Facebook that following his lengthy stay in London, the President is set to travel to Paris for unspecified business. He mentioned visiting President Tinubu at his private residence in London and that he would be accompanying him to France.

The announcement of the President’s ongoing absence from Nigeria, particularly during challenging economic times, has prompted many on social media to question the appropriateness of his trips.

In response to the backlash, Onanuga defended Tinubu’s right to travel, asserting that the President is not confined to the UK and is entitled to conduct official business wherever he chooses. Onanuga clarified in a post on his X account: “President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave.”
