The aspiration of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to become Nigeria’s next president received a major boost on Wednesday as a pan-Nigerian pressure group, United Nigeria for Peter Obi (UNIPO), endorsed him.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the group whose members comprised of all the ethnic nationalities in the country said that after critically examining all the presidential candidates for the election, they came to the overwhelming conclusion that Peter Obi is miles apart with regard to lifestyle, character, competence, and capability from the other candidates.

According to the convener/facilitator of the group, Joe Nwokedi they are in need of a prosperous and united nation where people, irrespective of their tribe, religion, or region can aspire to any position and also live in any part of Nigeria peacefully and harmoniously.

He said that they are united Nigeria for good governance, progressive future and a society devoid of fraud, corruption, forgery, and fear.

“We are people that have taken the steps to ensure that a new Nigeria  where there is prudent management of our national  resources, adequate provision of infrastructure and basic amenities to our people and a nation where our educational system will work and be at par with the growing educational systems  of the other nations of the world is possible.”

In his contribution, the secretary of the group, Bahokora Umar said that they were not guided by tribe or religion, but rather they were motivated by a burning desire to ensure that a new Nigeria where the welfare, rights, and future of their children are firmly secured.

According to him, they want a future where fraud, notorious lifestyle, forgery and insecurity would be reduced to the barest minimum.

He said that in that regard, they have identified a candidate who possesses the necessary qualities that would drive the much-needed positive future that they all desired and craved for, adding that the candidate is Peter Obi.

Also contributing, the Publicity Secretary of the group, Isiah Ugbomhe said that the candidate with the charisma, charm, capacity, aura, determination, commitment, background, and total dedication to tackle the myriads of problems bedeviling Nigeria is Peter Obi and his vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

“We, therefore, call on all the people of Nigeria, irrespective of tribe, religion or region to come out in their large numbers and vote for Peter Obi/Datti Baba Ahmed as the next president and vice president of Nigeria come Saturday, February 25th, so that our hope of a new and prosperous Nigeria will not be in vain.”
