The website of the Labour Party of Nigeria crashed Friday night, May 27, 2022 – hours after popular 2023 presidential aspirant, Mr. Peter Obi, joined the party.

Obi, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, had announced his switch to Labour Party on Friday evening, urging Nigerians, particularly the youth, to join him in his news political party.

Checks by News Express showed that the invitation was readily accepted by many of Obi’s supporters. The dam burst shortly after an admin of a popular pro-Obi WhatsApp group posted the following message last night: “Please if you can register with Labour party please go ahead and do so. Let us form a physical structure across the federation. Let make this our project.

Messages soon started pouring in from members who said they had registered but by 22:02 p.m. the Labour Party website had crashed. “Plenty people dey register ooo. The server no gree open o,” one member wrote.

Seven minutes after another member wrote: “The site bandwidth limit has been exceeded.”

This was followed the next minute by “LoL.. PO don cause jam on top Labor party site … We move,” posted by yet another member.

Some forum members asked for the physical addresses of Labour Party nationwide to enable them go and register. They also promised to recruit friends and family members so as to ensure Obi’s emergence as Nigeria’s next President in 2023. The former Anambra State Governor is expected to pick the Labour Party Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms ahead of the party’s Presidential Primary scheduled to hold next week.
