Nkiruka Nistoran, publisher of NN News Media, is demanding justice after the Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Mbah’s administration demolished her mother’s ancestral shop on October 4, 2025.

The property, located at 163 Upper Nike Road, Abakpa Nike, Enugu, was part of her family’s inheritance and, according to Nistoran, was destroyed without proper consultation.

Nistoran explained that the shop was one of four built by her late father, Chief Stephen Ugwu Adieu-nyiri-iwurube I, a former secretary of Umuenwene Iji Nike. She revealed that government officials had approached another nearby shop owner, requesting space for the relocation of a transformer. When the person declined, both that individual’s shop and her mother’s shop were ultimately demolished.

“They approached the other shop owner, and he refused to give space. But instead of resolving it properly, they demolished both his shop and my mother’s shop,” Nistoran said. “Even if the shop was close to the transformer, shouldn’t they have consulted the owners first?”

Calling the action a violation of her mother’s human rights, Nistoran confirmed she will take legal action against the government.

“This is not just about property it’s about due process and justice. I will not stop until justice is served,” she stated.

NN News Media described the demolition as deeply painful for Nistoran and reported that further updates will be provided as the situation continues to unfold.
