US Congressman Scott Perry has raised alarming allegations that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) provided funding to the Boko Haram terrorist group under the administrations of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
In a video shared on X, Perry accused USAID of facilitating the flow of funds to Boko Haram, linking these payments to larger global terrorist networks, including ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
Perry made these claims during a session titled “The War on Waste: Stamping Out the Scourge of Improper Payments and Fraud.” He stated, “Who gets some of that money? Does that name ring a bell to anybody in the room? Because your money, your money, $697 million annually, plus the shipments of cash funds in Madrasas, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, ISIS Khorasan, terrorist training camps. That’s what it’s funding.”
The controversial remarks echoed criticisms of USAID’s operations, especially since the time President Donald Trump suspended the agency’s activities in the face of similar revelations. Perry stressed that USAID’s funding efforts were inadvertently contributing to the spread of terrorism, stating, “You are funding terrorism, and it’s coming through USAID. This has got to end.”
Perry’s claims have intensified political debates, with Democrats continuing to push back against Trump’s decision to halt USAID’s funding, while others are calling for immediate reforms to prevent misuse of taxpayer money.
