Prof. Pat Utomi, a renowned political economist discussed Nigeria’s economic situation, corruption, and his plans for a new political party.

In an interview with the PUNCH, Utomi emphasized the need for a genuine political party focused on solving societal problems rather than personal interests.

He clarified that the aim is not a merger but to build a party with a different structure and values.

Utomi expressed concerns about the current state of governance, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues such as poverty, healthcare, and education.

He said that the current distressing situation faced by Nigerians need for serious discussions on issues affecting people’s lives rather than political propaganda.

Utomi also called for a rethinking of the National Youth Service Corps and restructuring of the centralized federal system. However, concluded by sharing updates on his health, stating that treatments for cancer have gone well.
