Team Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has emerged winner at the first Huawei Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competition for the 2022-2023 Global Final held in China which over 2,000 universities worldwide participated, News Band reports.

The ABU squad that represented the institution that won the prize include Ahmad Abdullahi, Maryam Jimoh Olalade, Haruna Anas and Elayo Aliyu Isah.

According to report, some 80 universities worldwide and 146 teams from 36 countries participated.

Before the final, more than 110,000 students from more than 2,000 universities in 74 countries and regions around the world took part in the competition and 107 team from 36 countries reached the final.

About Huawei ICT Competition

According to information published on its website, the Huawei ICT Competition is an international competition and exchange platform.

It is intended for students in Huawei ICT academies and those in higher education institutions that are willing to join the ICT Academy worldwide.

Through this competition, Huawei said it aims to provide students with a platform to compete healthily and exchange ideas, thus enhancing their ICT knowledge and practical skills as well as increasing their ability to innovate by using new technologies and platforms.

Since the first edition in 2015, Huawei said its ICT Competition’s influence has only kept growing.

The Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023 has just ended and it has attracted 120,000 students from over 2,000 universities and colleges across 74 countries and regions.
