Villagers in Farfaru and Kwari communities in Jibia local Government area of Katsina have fled after attacks by bandits on Saturday.

It was gathered that the villagers started relocating to Jibia town after the terrorists ransacked them and abducted unspecified number of children and women.

A resident, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent the terrorists struck around 3pm at Farfaru village, burning houses, rustling domestic animals and abducting unspecified number of residents.

A resident revealed that the terrorists were on a reprisal mission.

He said: “The terrorists were unhappy because of the arrest of some of their colleagues few days ago by security operatives.

“Only God knows the number of our villagers that the terrorists kidnapped. They also burnt down our houses and rustled our animals.

“Security operatives who arrived Farfaru later saved us from further punishment in the hands of the terrorists.

“The security operatives drove them back to the forests .Many of us have relocated to Jibia for our own safety.”

It was learnt another batch of terrorists stormed Kwari village about 9.30 pm on Saturday where they shot many residents and rustled animals.

No death was reported in the two attacks.

Katsina Police spokesman SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incidents but did not provide details.

“Yes, it is true,” he declared in his response to an SMS enquiry on the incident.

“I still need to get across to the DPO in charge of the two communities for details,” he stated. (The Nation)
