Solomon Abel Eke, the immediate past Local Government Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA in Rivers State, has strongly rebuked the Council Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Samuel Nwanosike, for disparaging comments directed at Governor Sim Fubara.
Nwanosike, a close associate of former Governor Nyesom Wike, labeled Governor Fubara as “A mumu man” and questioned his ability to handle the responsibilities bestowed upon him.
At a recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 12 event in Rumuomoi, Port Harcourt, where the Ekinigbo clan in Obio/Akpor LGA expressed support for Governor Fubara amid the ongoing political turmoil in the state, Eke criticized Nwanosike’s stance. Eke argued that Wike’s administration was overly controlling, restricting the freedom of speech for council chairmen.
During his speech, Eke highlighted the contrast between Wike’s era and the current leadership under Governor Fubara. He emphasized that Governor Fubara has fostered an environment where local government chairmen have the liberty to express themselves freely, a departure from the constraints experienced during Wike’s tenure.
Eke questioned the audacity of a Local Government Chairman to refer to the Governor as “Mumu” and recounted the past, where chairmen had to carry medication for high blood pressure when summoned to the government house. He contrasted this with the present scenario, where chairmen operate with a newfound sense of autonomy.
The former Chairman commended Governor Fubara for ruling with a more open and people-centric approach, promising that the support from Ward 12 would not be in vain. Eke assured the constituents that, as the “eyes of Sim in Obio/Akpor,” the benefits of Governor Fubara’s projects would extend to them, reinforcing the commitment to inclusive governance.
