The military’s intrusion into the residence of Pa E. K. Clark in Kiagbodo, Delta State, has sparked outrage among Ijaw youths, who are members of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Worldwide.

The IYC has vehemently condemned the invasion, stating that it amounts to a grave insult to the Ijaw people and shows blatant disrespect towards the elderly.

In a press conference held by the spokesperson of IYC Worldwide, Amb Binebai Princewill, it was emphasized that such actions by the military are unacceptable, particularly against a highly respected figure like Pa Clark. At 97 years old, Pa Clark has served the country diligently as a Senator and former minister of information. He is also a key figure in fostering unity in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria as a whole, serving as the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).

The IYC has demanded that the military operate within the bounds of democratic principles and exercise restraint in their actions. They insist that the military should rely on credible intelligence to avoid harming innocent civilians. Moreover, the IYC highlighted the disparity in treatment, noting that similar invasions have not occurred in the residences of highly respected figures from other parts of the country.

The Ijaw Youth Council issued a stern warning, holding the Nigerian military accountable for any harm that may befall Pa Clark. They assert that Nigeria is governed by democratic principles and that all actions must comply with the rule of law.
