In a recent public gathering, Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has directed permanent secretaries within his ministry to bow before President Bola Tinubu.

This directive was given during the inauguration of the arterial road N20, a ceremony presided over by Tinubu.

Wike, during his speech, highlighted that many of the appointees had not envisioned reaching such career heights. However, they were fortunate to be among the inaugural group of permanent secretaries for the FCT, an appointment made possible by the President’s approval.

In a light-hearted moment that drew laughter from the attendees, Wike asked the permanent secretaries to stand from their seats and bow in appreciation to Tinubu. He said, “Many of them had never dreamt they would reach the pinnacle of their careers. So, if you allow me, I would like the beneficiaries, the permanent secretaries, to come forward. You are the agents of renewed hope. Come forward and take a bow before Mr. President. These are the first set of permanent secretaries that you, Your Excellency, have created.”

He further expressed his gratitude to the President for making the position of head of service available, a role many had been praying for. He also mentioned the swift completion of the arterial road N20, awarded in 2020 at a cost of N30.6 billion, as a testament to the efficiency of the current administration.

On March 12, Tinubu appointed Atang Samuel as the head of the FCT civil service and named the new permanent secretaries, who hail from various regions of the country.
