Sidikat Odunkanwi, popular known Iyabo Oko, Veteran Yoruba actress is dead.

The 62-year-old actress, who featured prominently in Yoruba Movie circle, had battled ill-health for some time and seemingly recovered.

She was said to have died on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

According to her celebrity daughter, Bisi Aisha, via her facebook page, she stated that Iyabo Oko died on Wednesday evening.

She wrote, “May (yo)ur soul Rest In Peace mummy.”

Recall that last year, tbe actress was rumoured dead for days, only for Bisi Aisha to announce that her mum was alive.

Popular actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako, known for celebrating aged thespians and seeking their welfare, has also confirmed Iyabo Oko’s death.

On her Instagram page, Daramola-Salako wrote: “And finally we lost her.. rip Iyabo Oko, we did our best but God knows best.”

The veteran was born on November 15, 1960, in Iwo Local Government Area of present-day Osun State.

Sidikat had stage names such as “Iyabo Oko” “Apoti Aje” and Sisi Mama”.

Last year, one of her daughters, Olamide, disclosed that her mother was diagnosed with an ischaemic stroke about five years earlier but kept her health issues away from the public.

Her colleagues, Yoruba movie actors namely Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe, Foluke Daramola and Biodun Okeowo, amongst others, assisted her financially in the past.
