Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Ronu Leadership Forum has made an open declaration in support for political power to be shifted to the Southeast region.

Akin Malaolu, the President of the organization in a statement on Tuesday reiterated that 2023 is the turn of the Igbo to produce the next president of Nigeria

He described the decision of the former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to declare his intention to run for the presidency as “Troublemaking Adventure”, adding that though the former Lagos State Governor reserves the right to contest for any elective position.

The group criticized the self-acclaimed kingmaker for declaring his intention at the seat of power, noting that his visit to Buhari was “purposely orchestrated to create an impact that may unbalance the present leadership of the APC, the progressive governor’s forum and enlarge the fault lines already visible and to midwife a division within the party.”

Malaolu said his action is uncalled for as the whole charade is coming at a time the country need peace.

He reaffirmed that the forum will not be tricked into supporting any other presidential aspiration other than the one from the south east region and urged the Northern and Southern leaders to put their feelings in check and support the Igbos.

While urging the south not to play the “Traitor Role”, the forum said its resolve to support Igbo Presidency is constant and concluded and that “On Igbo presidency they stand.”
