If you thought the Labour Party and her presidential candidate Peter Obi cannot compete favourably with the big wigs in Nigeria’s political space, then you may need to have a rethink.
This is because the Director-General of the party’s presidential campaign, Dr. Doyin Okupe has poured cold water on suggestions they lack the financial muscle to prosecute a successful election.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Ireti Bakare-Yusuf on Danfo Conversations, Okupe revealed the party’s plans to win.
For him, the party has “worked it out.”
“With the headship like Peter Obi, and while APC and PDP may be spending 200 billion, we don’t need to spend more than a third.
“This is going to be a people’s party,” he said.
While further disclosing the numbers needed for the campaign, the former presidential aspirant also quelled suggestions of vote-buying and a lack of structures by the party.
“Labour itself probably has more than 35 to 40 million people who are eligible to vote as members.
“We are not going to give anybody money to vote for Peter Obi, people are ready to put their own money out to make sure that Peter Obi wins,” he said.
