A youth group from Nigeria’s South East, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders COSEYL, has warned that any attempt to rig the 2027 general elections will face strong resistance.
In a statement released on Sunday, the group’s President General, Goodluck Ibem, said election results must reflect real performance, not empty promises or propaganda.
The group made it clear that no individual, political party, or institution should try to interfere with the voting process. It said any such move would be met with lawful and united resistance from the people.
COSEYL said the time when votes were stolen and leaders forced on the people is over. According to them, citizens are now more aware, alert, and ready to protect their votes within the law.
The statement stressed that only leaders who show real results, accountability, and care for the people will be supported. It added that those who have failed or misused power should expect to be voted out.
The group also urged people across the region to quickly get their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs and keep them safe.
It described the PVC as more than just a card, calling it the strongest tool citizens have to shape their future and choose responsible leaders.
COSEYL advised voters to stay peaceful, watchful, and united before, during, and after the elections. It also warned against vote buying, threats, or any attempt to influence voters unfairly.
The group ended by saying that power belongs to the people and promised to keep supporting free and fair elections, good governance, and the interest of the people.
