Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s prospective presidential candidate for 2023, demonstrated his commitment to healthcare and education by visiting the College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi, and the School of Nursing, Iyienu Hospital, Ogidi.

In a philanthropic gesture, Obi presented each institution with a substantial donation of 10 million Naira.

Taking to his X social media handle, Obi expressed his delight in visiting the healthcare institutions on Sunday, January 21, 2024. He announced, “I was pleased to visit the College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi, and School of Nursing, Iyienu Hospital, Ogidi, where I presented each of them with a cheque of N10 million to help them in the training and education of nurses.”

Highlighting the importance of investing in healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, Obi emphasized their crucial roles at the primary healthcare level and their significant contributions to the overall growth of the health sector. Acknowledging the potential global shortage of nurses, Obi emphasized the vital role that trained nurses can play in providing adequate care for the burgeoning population.

Expressing gratitude, Obi thanked voluntary agencies for collaborating with the government to enhance the health and education sectors. He also extended appreciation to the proprietors, management teams, and teachers of the health institutions for their dedication to ensuring the development of quality and well-trained healthcare professionals.

In his closing remarks, Obi reiterated his commitment to continuous investment in critical areas of development, envisioning a New Nigeria built on progress and prosperity. “Through our continuous investment in the critical areas of development, we will be able to move our nation forward and build the New Nigeria we all look forward to,” he concluded. -PO
