Traditional sacrifice in calabash was placed at Ward B polling unit 02, Agungi, Eti-Osa, allegedly to scarce people from exercising their franchise.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 1,000 registered voters were unable to vote at their polling unit owing to the traditional sacrifice.
According to the voters, it is to discourage people from voting.
The residence maintained that they were not moved by the development as they were ready to cast their vote.
Aside the fetish practice, it was also observed that no INEC official was around to conduct the voting process.
The angry residents who looked disenfranchised started protesting, stressing that they must be part of the process and would wait for the arrival of the INEC officials.
One of the residents, Mary Ogunleye told NAN that some of them were at the polling unit as early as 7.00 a.m.
“Some of us have been as early as 7.00 a.m. and up till now, there is still no INEC official around. We were told that they missed their way.
“We are still here and hoping that they will show up, so that we can cast our vote.
“This sacrifice will not work.
“We heard that the INEC officials missed their way since 8.00 a.m. and are yet to locate our unit as at 2.00 p.m. now,” she said.
Another aggrieved voter, Segun Olopade, said he felt disappointed and tired, after waiting from 8 a.m. and now that it is 2.00 p.m. and no INEC official had shown up.
“You can see the crowd.
“People are quite agitated and angry.
“The sacrifice placed here won’t deter us from voting. This is another way of oppressing voters and it won’t work.
“The drama happening here is insane. How can someone use sacrifice to scare us? This is a disgrace,” he said. (NAN)
