A fire outbreak occured at the popular Balogun Market on Lagos Island on Tuesday morning, destroying the topmost floor of a five storey building.

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Jubril A. Gawat disclosed this in a tweet.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a Fire outbreak at the famous Balogun Market which involved the topmost floor of a five storey building,” Gawat tweeted.

He said the fire is under control as emergency workers were on ground to quench and prevent further spread of the fire.

The level of destruction in the market is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
