It seems the last has not been heard about the recent governorship election held in Enugu State.

An anonymous writer has just disclosed, in a memo to News Band, how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) allegedly rigged Labour Party (LP) out in the election despite efforts by the Enugu State chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Enechi Onyia, to stop the heist.

According to the writer, Mr. Onyia called him from the collation center and informed of the plot by INEC to rig the Nkanu East result by refusing to endorse the over-voting and BVAS bypassed perpetrated in the area.

Hundreds of Labour Party members mobilised immediately to the designated area and commenced serious protest.

The protest, according to him, froze INEC who sent the matter to Abuja, away from the reach of protesters and eyewitnesses.

It was at Abuja that “INEC decided to rig out LP”, he claimed.

The memo reads: “I would love us all to appreciate and thank Mazi Ndubisi Enechi Onyia, Enugu state APGA chairman and son of late SAN, Enechi Onyia.

“On the 19th of March 2023, at around 8.30pm or 9.00pm thereabout, I received one of the most important phone calls from the INEC collation center.

“When I picked the call it was from Ndubisi who was at the collation center informing me that he had just stopped INEC from rigging the Nkanu East result by refusing to endorse the over-voting and BVAS bypassed there.

“He blew the first whistle and said I should inform LP (Labour Party) members to storm INEC office early in the morning being Monday.

“I quickly went into action and sent messages all across like wild fire also creating posters that night for the early morning protest.

“As early as 7.00am, I was at Agric bank junction opposite INEC office and started organising folks from there.

“The PCC director, Prince Emeka Mamah, also arrived with hundreds of LP members  and many others soon arrived and the protest commenced.

“We held our stand..No BVAS! No result!

“It was that protest that froze INEC and towards evening they decided to send the matter to Abuja, and it was there the Abuja INEC decided to rig out LP.

“But their math failed despite the fact that they declared PDP winner. We know we won. And we shall win in court.

“Please let us appreciate and thank Ndubisi very well for standing with Ndigbo at that critical hour.

“He made a particular statement when he called which I hold very dear.

“He said: “Eric I know you people didn’t give us support but in this case I will give you maximum support!””
