The Federal Government has indefinitely put off training for the National Population Commission (NPC) enumerators and supervisors ahead of the 2023 national census.

The chairman of the Census Committee, Mr. Ipalibo Harry, announced this in Abuja on Wednesday while clarifying issues surrounding the census.

Mr. Harry noted that the NPC enumerators and supervisors’ training was slated for April 13 before it was suddenly postponed.

He, however, insisted that the postponement would not affect the conduct of the population and housing census scheduled to hold from May 3 to 7.

He explained that the NPC was ready to conduct a credible census, adding that they had already concluded the training of quality data managers and others.

However, the census committee chairman said a new date for training the enumerators and supervisors would be communicated as soon as possible.

There have been outcries from various quarters demanding for a postponement of the proposed 2023 census following the shabby election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 25 and March 18, 2023.

Many observers cited unpreparedness on the part of the federal government and public disenchantment over the recent elections held across the country.
