Nigerian poet, novelist, playwright and journalist, Sam Omatseye, from Delta State, has deleted a fake photo he shared on Twitter showing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having lunch with President Muhammadu Buhari in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Omatseye deleted the picture after he was caught red-handed trying to deceive Nigerians with a picture of Tinubu having lunch with Buhari in Mecca Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

However, when the original picture was unearthed by News band, it showed that it was taken in 2019, and not 2023.

The caption of the photo by Sunday Aghaeze, dated May 10 2019, reads:

“President Buhari Ramadan breakfast with Asiwaju 1-4. President Muhammadu Buhari breaks Ramadan fast with the APC National Leader Asiwaju, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the residency Presidential Villa Friday Night in Abuja.”

When News band checked on the Twitter handle of Omatseye Friday morning, the tweet was nowhere to be seen.

The controversial writer stirred the hornet’s bees of the OBIdients when he wrote a piece titled: ‘Obi-tuary’, alluding to Peter Obi.

It could be recalled that Tinubu left Nigeria for France some three weeks ago and yet to return.

Nothing has been seen or heard of him since he travelled to the European country, prompting various speculations about the real status of his health.

Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, by the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC).

His fellow contestants, including the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and a host of others, however, have all challenged the outcome of the election, alleging it was manipulated to favour Tinubu.
