A former presidential candidate, Rev. Chris Okotie, has said the fierce contest between politicians before, during and after the 2023 elections justified his call for a new Nigerian constitution.

In a statement by his media aide, Okotie said the fierce contests and contentions among politicians would be the hallmark of any election unless a new constitution was put in place.

He argued that the ad-hoc amendments of the constitution as being proposed by some would not lead to any serious reformation because the current constitution upon which the general election was held, has only produced greater division in the polity as being experienced.

Okotie said his reformation was anchored on four major components of Reconciliation, Reconstruction, Solidarity and a new foundation for development.

He said, “It is time for reconciliation; it is time for reconstruction, it is time to join hands in solidarity, it is time to lay the foundation for posterity. The Reformation of Nigeria is now!”

Rev. Okotie asked the political gladiators to sheath their swords and come to the Round Table to fashion out how to restructure the country. (Daily Trust)
