First Bank of Nigeria Plc. has been accused of forging a court order, freezing a customer’s account which is tantamount to stealing the said customer’s money and disobedience to a court order which reportedly indicted the bank and ordered it to pay the customer the sum of fifty million naira (N50,000,000) as damages.
A whistleblower, @PIDOMNIGERIA, who identified himself as an investigative journalist and prides himself in providing credible and reliable information but hated by security agencies, made the accusation in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle.
According to the whistleblower, First Bank forged a court order to freeze the customer’s account and the customer dragged them before a High Court.
The Court found the bank guilty of forgery and awarded N50 million as damages against it to be paid to the customer.
First Bank, however, reportedly refused to pay the customer the statutory damages ordered by the court but resorted to bullying and intimidating the customer.
The whistleblower has, meanwhile, threatened to publish the evidence next week unless the bank pays the damages imposed by the court.
The whistleblower tweeted:
“First bank @FirstBankngr forged a court order, to freeze a customers account. The customer dragged them before a High Court who found them guilty for forgery, and awarded the sum of fifty million naira (50,000,000) as damages against them, to be paid to the customer.
“But First Bank has refused to pay the customer the fifty million naira ordered by the court. Rather they are trying to oppress & intimidate the customer.
“Their legal department knows about this case. But I am promising them that by next week, this case will go public with evidence.
“I will publish the court order that they forged, and the court judgment against them on the case.”
