President Bola Tinubu, who assumed office this week despite his widely publicized background in narcotics dealing and theft of public funds, has appointed Femi Gbajabiamila as his chief of staff.
Mr. Gbajabiamila was punished in the United States for stealing from clients when he practiced law around Atlanta. He admitted his offences and returned some of the money he stole before fleeing to Nigeria to launch a career in politics.
Similarly, Peoples Gazette reported that Mr. Gbajabiamila accepted multimillion-dollar bribes as Nigeria’s House Speaker in the run-up to the passage of a law that restructured the country’s petroleum industry in August 2021.
Mr. Tinubu, whose real identity remains unclear, has promised to run a government free from the specter of corruption and criminality that characterized most of his life.
NN News reported that Tinubu announced the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.
In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The Director of information in the state House , Abiodun Oladunjoye made the announcement in statement on Friday.
