The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) expressed concern over the duplication of news content across media houses and urged journalists to embrace innovation.

Speaking at the 2023 Amplify In-depth Media (AIM) Conference and Awards in Abuja, WSCIJ Executive Director Motunrayo Alaka emphasized the need for investigative journalism to bring about positive change in Nigeria.

Alaka warned against the use of deceptive data and encouraged journalists to follow up on promises and policies made by politicians for accountability.

Keynote speaker Dapo Olorunyomi stressed the importance of truth, accuracy, and verifiability in journalism.

According to Olorunyomi, said that the fundamental principles of journalism, such as truth, accuracy, and verifiability. These principles are crucial for maintaining the integrity of news reporting.

The conference also included the public presentation of the 2023 Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting, NN News Media learnt.
