The Ohanaeze Youths Movement, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural group, has rebuked Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso for his perceived blame-shifting tactics aimed at deflecting attention from his own economic challenges.

The youth group dismisses Cardoso’s accusations against former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele as “childish” and strategically crafted to divert focus from Cardoso’s alleged inability to stabilize the nation’s economy.

In response to Cardoso attributing the current Naira scarcity in certain regions to his predecessor, the Ohanaeze Youths, represented by leaders Nwabueze Obi, Ekwem Eucharia, and Ndukaku Chris, call for an apology to Emefiele.

They encourage Cardoso to leverage Emefiele’s wealth of experience to prevent a further deterioration of the ongoing economic crisis.

The group asserts that Cardoso’s blame game is unfounded and urges him to cease deflecting responsibility. They suggest a visit to Emefiele, even in Kuje Prison, to learn the secrets of Naira stability before the economic situation worsens.

Emefiele’s leadership is praised for ensuring the stability of the financial system and implementing innovative policies that played a pivotal role in pulling the economy out of recession in 2016.
