The National Leader of South-South Chiefs and Elder, Omubo Harry, has cautioned Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara against succumbing to intimidation from any quarters.
Harry, expressing concern over the state’s situation, advised Fubara to exercise prudence in the sacrifices made to establish peace, emphasizing the need to safeguard the future of Rivers people.
In response to Governor Fubara’s commitment to making sacrifices for peace, Harry urged him not to enter into agreements under duress, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that such sacrifices align with the well-being of the state and its citizens.
Furthermore, Harry called on the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to gracefully hand over the reins of leadership to his successor and refrain from interfering in the state’s affairs.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs and elders of Rivers State, Harry emphasized the principle of turn-by-turn rulership, asserting that Governor Fubara should be allowed to govern without intimidation or undue influence.
The traditional ruler warned against over-sacrificing to the detriment of the people and stressed the importance of healthy and measured decision-making for the benefit of the state.
