Senator Simon Lalong, representing Plateau South, expressed strong disapproval of the military’s failure to respond promptly to the recent violent attacks in Plateau State.

During a debate on a motion sponsored by Senator Diiket Plang from Plateau Central, Lalong revealed his disappointment with the reasons provided by the military for their delayed response.

Lalong disclosed that the military attributed their inaction to proximity and challenging terrain, a justification he found unsatisfactory. He emphatically stated, “There is nothing like terrain in the military.”

Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, joined the condemnation, highlighting the unprecedented nature of the attack in Bokkos. Ningi asserted that the lack of synergy among the various security agencies contributed to the tragic incident.

“The Plateau is in dire need because they are settling over a thousand displaced people. It is a terrible phenomenon. We have forgotten about our humanity,” Ningi remarked, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated efforts among security agencies.

The senators collectively called for an immediate review and improvement of the collaboration between security forces to ensure a more effective response to security challenges, echoing concerns over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Plateau State.
