Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, delivered a strong message to the recently appointed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and directors of agencies within his ministry.
The warning was issued during the inauguration and induction ceremony for the newly appointed executives in Abuja on Thursday.
Keyamo, expressing his commitment to fostering accountability and effective governance in the aviation sector, emphasized that poor performance would not be tolerated. He underscored his determination to uphold a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, asserting that individuals involved in any corrupt practices would be handed over to the appropriate authorities.
During the event, the minister stressed the significance of the aviation sector as a focal point for the current administration’s renewed focus and outlined his expectations for the appointed officials. He cautioned against using public office for personal financial gains, urging those with such motives to resign voluntarily.
Keyamo stated, “I will not tolerate non-performance. If you think your aim is to make money in public office, resign before you leave here. There are thousands of Nigerians waiting to serve, and you must consider it a privilege that you were picked to serve.”
To further underscore the seriousness of his commitment to performance and accountability, the minister signed a performance bond with the newly appointed CEOs, underscoring the importance of delivering results and maintaining the highest standards of governance within the aviation agencies under his purview.
