Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has strongly criticized those who have been condemning the federal government’s recent decision to relocate certain departments and units of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos.

Shettima, emphasizing the commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ asserted that no policy or decision would be made to favor one section over another or to the detriment of any geographical location in the nation.

Addressing the issue as a Special Guest of Honour at the 10th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture and Merit Awards held in Maiduguri, Borno state on Saturday, Shettima dismissed those opposing the relocation as mere mischief makers.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Shettima spoke on the theme “Creating Pathways for Peace: Tackling Banditry and Insurgency through Good Governance for Sustainable Development in Nigeria.” He highlighted the significance of the event, aligning it with President Tinubu’s vision, which brought together key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to collectively brainstorm and pave the way for lasting solutions to end insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, poverty, corruption, and other social vices in the region and the nation as a whole.

In his statement, Shettima addressed the recent opposition to the federal government’s decision to relocate certain departments and units, assuring the people of the North that the move is in the interest of the entire Nigerian populace. He reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to avoid policies or decisions that favor specific regions, emphasizing that those opposing the relocation process are, in essence, acting as mischief makers. Shettima urged them to desist from such opposition, emphasizing the government’s dedication to the overall welfare and progress of the nation.
