Isaac Fayose, sibling of the former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Tinubu to take action by seizing dollar accounts of Nigerians as a measure to save the declining value of the naira.

In a video shared on his official Facebook account, Fayose urged President Bola Tinubu to institute a policy limiting individual domiciliary accounts to a maximum of $1,000. He further recommended that any excess dollars in the accounts of former governors, including his brother, should be auctioned.

Fayose emphasized the need for the President to make a televised announcement, informing Nigerians that private domiciliary accounts holding more than $1,000 would be subject to seizure or auction.

This would involve former governors, himself, and others, having their surplus dollars auctioned and replaced with the local currency.

The proposal aims to curb the free fall of the naira and stimulate economic stability, although such a drastic measure may provoke varying opinions and discussions among the public and policymakers alike.
