Governor Alex Otti of Abia state had the privilege of hosting former President Olusegun Obasanjo today.

In a statement shared via his X handle, Otti said the former President’s wisdom and input were instrumental in our discussions, particularly his endorsement of our infrastructure development and governance reforms.

We took a moment to appreciate the progress we’ve made in Abia, particularly in Aba, which serves as the commercial hub not only for our state but for the entire South East. With the completion of 10 roads and 31 more in progress, we’re not just constructing routes—we’re laying the groundwork for a prosperous future for all Abians.

Obasanjo’s praise for our decision to abolish the pension law for former governors and deputies underscores our dedication to accountable leadership. This action is a crucial stride towards minimizing governance costs and allocating our resources where they’re most needed.

Obasanjo’s straightforward and honest approach, a true beacon of truth, is something I deeply appreciate. His support and recognition of our efforts to put an end to the ‘rascality’ of previous policies will hopefully inspire other states to follow our lead and set Nigeria on a path of progress.

His words inspire us, and we share his vision of a Nigeria where leadership equates to stewardship. Together, we’re establishing a new governance standard that puts the well-being of every citizen first.

I extend my gratitude to Chief Obasanjo for his steadfast support and for reminding us that the road to greatness is paved with determination, bravery, and an unwavering commitment to service.
