In a testament to unity and service, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, embarked on a nationwide tour coinciding with the sacred months of Ramadan for Muslims and Lent for Christians.
His journey led him to the Forestry/Crop Science Nursery at the prestigious Faculty of Agriculture within the Usmanu Danfodiyo University-Main Campus in Sokoto.
Understanding the critical need for water access in the area, Obi took the initiative to install a borehole for the faculty, aiming to alleviate this pressing concern. Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, a revered figure within the faculty, expressed heartfelt gratitude, recognizing this endeavor as the first non-governmental project directly benefiting the facility.
This initiative underscores the profound impact of sustained efforts toward advancing educational and environmental sustainability goals. From Sokoto, Obi journeyed to Kebbi State, continuing his mission of goodwill. His visit commenced with a courtesy call to H.E, Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris, fostering stronger ties and mutual understanding.
Subsequently, he paid respects to the Emir of Gwandu and the Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Major General Mohammad Iliyasu Bashar (Rtd), in Birnin Kebbi. This engagement aimed to strengthen bonds and promote communal harmony. Obi then proceeded to inaugurate a borehole donated to Anguwan Hutawa, Nasarawa Village, Nasarawa District, behind the army barracks, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Returning to Abuja, Obi joined fellow Christian faithful at the Maitama Holy Trinity Catholic Church to observe Palm Sunday. His presence emphasized the spirit of unity and inclusivity that forms the bedrock of Nigeria’s diverse fabric.
Reflecting on his experiences during these tours, Obi expressed his firm belief that a New Nigeria is indeed possible, driven by collective efforts and goodwill.
