Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State, made significant announcements during the 13th convocation ceremony of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. The highlights of his address include:

Salary Increment:

Academic staff at Ebonyi State University will receive a 20% salary increase starting from May 2024.

Non-academic staff will see a 10% raise in their salaries.

School fees at the university have been reduced by 10%.

Financial Support:

The monthly subvention for Ebonyi State University has been raised from N200m to N280m.

Academic Opportunities:

First-class graduates from Ebonyi State University, of state origin, will be offered automatic employment as lecturers at the university.

All first-class graduates, regardless of their origin, will have the same opportunity for employment at the university.

Facility Renaming:

The Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital, AE-FUTHA II, located along Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway, has been renamed as the Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital.

Governor Nwifuru’s initiatives aim to enhance the academic environment, support staff welfare, and provide opportunities for scholarly growth at Ebonyi State University.
