Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has spoken out about the ongoing internal strife within the party.
At a press conference held in Abuja this Saturday, Obi tackled several pressing national issues.
In relation to the party’s crisis, Obi voiced his belief that the situation would be peacefully resolved. He asserted that the current problems were not insurmountable and could be effectively handled.
He pointed out that the issues within the Labour Party were minor compared to the challenges faced by APC and PDP.
The Labour Party has been thrown into chaos, leading the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to call for the resignation of the party’s national Chairman, Julius Abure.
Ignoring the NLC’s demand, the National Working Committee (NWC) under Abure’s leadership went ahead with the national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday. During this convention, Abure was re-elected.
However, the NLC rejected the results of the convention, including the re-election of Abure and his NWC.
In retaliation, stakeholders have revealed plans to form a transition committee to manage the party’s affairs until new officials are elected in the next three months.
