Arise News Correspondent Laila Johnson-Salami engaged Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, on the environmental impact assessment of the Lagos-Calabar Highway Project.

She sought clarification on whether the project had received final approval from the Federal Ministry of Environment or if any exemptions had been granted.

Umahi’s response, somewhat humorously, included a reference to his upbringing in a village, indicating difficulty in hearing the question clearly.

Despite this, he acknowledged the importance of the environmental impact assessment and committed to providing the necessary documentation to confirm the project’s approval status before commencing.

The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project is a proposed infrastructure development that aims to connect Lagos and Calabar, two major cities in Nigeria, via a coastal road network.
