I appreciate Atiku Abubakar’s support for Peter Obi in the coming presidential election.

However, there is nothing unusual about a former presidential candidate becoming vice president. This is a common practice in other parts of the world.

For instance, when Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008, he chose Joe Biden, who had also run for the Democratic nomination, as his running mate. Years later, Biden himself became president after serving as vice president under Obama.

Similarly, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite his unsuccessful presidential bid, also sought to become vice president under Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 general election. While Tinubu’s bid for the presidency was unsuccessful, his selection as Buhari’s running mate demonstrates that it is not uncommon for former presidential candidates to take on the role of vice president.
